Artist Briefs

I have collaborated for over two years by writing art briefs for the amazing artist Amy King, who creates fantasy headshots and character designs based on those descriptions. Below are just a few of our collaborations!

The briefs were meant to quickly capture the essence of the character with any essential personality traits or story elements. I also left some aspects open to Amy since I want the artist to be able to embody their style.

Lady Vereshaey Toxra

Old woman (she/her) green dragonborn noble. She's an old-money, secondary antagonist that the party will be 80th-birthday-party-crashing. She should have some flashy jewelry adornments, preferably integrated into the dragonborn physicality. If the art reaches her neck, a fur ruff/collar would be very appropriate (dragon strength over nature).

Mood: regal, self-centered, "I own you."

Varathorn

An elf man (he/him) who worships the primordial spirit of the woods, focusing on the dark aspects of it. He's been willing to sacrifice many in the name of awakening this avatar. However, he believes this is for a greater good, returning the world to its natural state and that the sacrifices will be rewarded by the entity. But he also won't back down from his goal.

At this point he has taken on physical nature aspects: ivy, a single antler, burrs, thorns, flowers, etc.

Mood: serenely threatening

Captain Akra

Nonbinary (they/them) grizzled but handsome hobgoblin mercenary captain. They would have some facial scarring, especially near a lost eye, and an undercut (distinguished and also out of the way for fighting). They're a bit of a fighter for justice, but they don't always go about it in the best of ways.

Mood: extreme confidence, cordial
